Hey non-existent readers, I'm super excited today! Because I have finally updated my jazyl blogskin (who still calls it that anyways? Haha) and I've decided to officially change it from my usually black blog to this minimal white one! (Read about the last time I changed my layout here.)
I am so, SO excited to release this layout because I can proudly say that I wrote up 99% of the code, and I am so glad that I picked this skill up last year in one of the electives I took as a first year (yes, I did web design as elective—DECO1400, to be exact).
All in all though, I pretty much spent about 24 hours in total writing the code, which was spread out over a few days in February. Then I kinda got way too busy with uni and jazyl was just sitting there all lonely in its little corner. And so I've decided to just post the new layout up!
But a few words of caution though, I haven't actually finished the layout yet, hence the title of this post. So hopefully, I'll be able to add stuff up like:
-social media sharing buttons
-a profile pic of me haha
-a more refined wishlist ;)
-and other bits and bobs that will spruce up this little blog.
Soo.... In order to commemorate the release of this beta version, here's a post on my ...
2014 "New Year" Resolutions
I know it's coming a little late for the type of topic I will be talking about today but.. whatever. Here at jazyl, we have almost zero concept of time.
So anyways, here it goes!
(In no particular order)
1. Be an... ahem.. better driver. To be more exact, better means: stop driving too fast, use my side mirrors more often (esp. super impt when reverse parking, duh), do 'shoulder checks' when filtering between lanes, learn parallel parking, do sharp turns slower, know when to overtake and when I am just plain impatient, don't cross my hands when turning the steering wheel, stop imagining swerving the wheel real hard and twisting it around like a kid in a toy car, and definitely many more things to improve on.. wish me luck.. and safety.
2. Feel like I've learnt something in my degree, that I've become a 'master' in my particular field and am comfortable being defined in that way, and therefore find my 'calling' and future job direction. Or maybe I'll just be a jack of all trades and a master of none. Sigh.
3. Read the Bible more often, as in quiet time. As a Christian, my track record of reading the bible regularly is particularly bad, and I would very much like to correct that. Often you hear wonderful Christians extolling the joy and satisfaction of reading the Bible daily, the insight and comfort they get from opening it up and absorbing the wisdom of the book. So I would love to do that! At the moment I have been occasionally opening this bible reading/devotion app though it really hasn't even become a daily (or even weekly) thing yet. Oops.
4. Pick up Korean again! I started self-learning when I was in grade 10 (I.e. when I was 15) but have been really sporadic with the whole thing overall. I bought 2 textbooks from Korea and had them shipped to Singapore before I took them back to Australia over the last Dec holidays (DEDICATION) but I havent looked at them properly yet! I would still say I'm a beginner / intermediate after 4 years of starting *nervous laughter* so yeah, really want to keep learning and improving my Korean!
Huh. Well, excusing the fact that this is, like, half a year late, let's applaud my "can-do" attitude and let's hope that I am well on my journey to accomplish these fairly do-able resolutions!
What are your resolutions for '2014'? ;)
